up! magazine reveals the three prize-winning photos of the 2010 photo contest
Our fifth-annual photo contest was a doozy. We received hundreds of photos from WestJet travellers, each capturing a unique sense of place.
It was a tough choice to pick the winners, to be sure. There may or may not have been a few friendly threats tossed around as the staff picked their favourites and narrowed down the photos to the top three.
But, without further ado, check out the 2010 prize-winning photos, which were also published in the February issue of up! magazine:
First Place: New York View
Rebecca - Toronto, ON

The story behind the shot: "This photo was taken in New York City on Liberty Island. I was taking in the beautiful city vista when this funky viewer caught my eye. I just had to capture that gorgeous detail."
Second Place: Olympic Patriot
Dan - Port Moody, BC

The story behind the shot: "I took this along the Stanley Park seawall at sunset. It features the statue of Harry Jerome, a Canadian Olympic athlete, and the Vancouver skyline with the iconic Canada Place sails. This image inspires patriotism and pride for the 2010 Olympics."
Third Place: Prairie Original
Regan - Regina, SK
The story behind the shot: "This photo was taken just south of Regina. I took the shot because I think it represents the diversity of landscapes and scenery that make up Saskatchewan; it's not all flat, nor is it all wheat fields. And who can resist a field of sunflowers that stretches as far as the eye can see, set against a classic Prairie sky?"
Congratulations to Rebecca, Dan and Regan for their awesome photos!
