Local Cuba Guides

Step beyond the sprawling resorts and have these local guides show you other aspects of Cuba

Local culture (AND an escape from all-inclusive monotony) is just a call away. Use these guides to discover the Cuba you don't know—but should:

Julio Muñoz

Address: Jose Marti No 401, Trinidad

Phone: 041-99-36-73

Muñoz oversees photo workshops at his casa particular in Trinidad. He is also a horse whisperer and can organize horseback treks in the surrounding countryside.

Yoan Reyes

Address: Calle Rafael Trejo No 134, Viñales

Phone: 048-69-52-25

Reyes runs a home-stay in the traditional tobacco-growing village of Viñales, with everything from country hikes to the family farm to salsa lessons.

San Cristóbal Agencia de Viajes

This government-run agency in Havana is overseen by the city historian and offers fantastic personalized tours, including an eye-opening trip around Old Havana’s social projects.

San Cristobal Tourism Agency in Habana, Cuba has lost all my confidence. An honest, quality, customer driven company is not what this agency represents. The tour guide was an hour and a half late picking up our group, the van was too small, had a low ceiling, and dark tinted windows which made viewing the sites nearly impossible. At all of our stops we returned to the van and continued on until we arrived at the old city. We weren't informed that the van would be leaving and we were to find our own way back to the hotel. Not knowing this, we left our bag (which was secure the entire time) in the van. However, when we contacted the agency, they informed us nothing was left inside. They hung up on us, they were not cooperative and they had our bag which contained a camera lens, ipod and other valuable items. Yes, as a tourist, you should never leave your bag in the van... i get that. However, we didn't think they would dismiss us so easily and not offer to help in any way. I do not recommend this agency.
