You may or may not know this, but we were looking for a new Editor of up! and we found one!

Her name is Debra Cummings and she made the whole up! team breakfast this morning as a good way to introduce herself and meet everyone. Let me tell you something about me. If you want to get on my good side, feed me a delicious breakfast. Georges even had seconds!

Debra starts in a month and, though we are sad to see Tom go, we are excited to start work with Debra.

Calgary, July 15 - up! magazine, WestJet's official in-flight publication produced by RedPoint Media Group, is proud to announce Debra Cummings as the new editor effective August 16, 2010.

Cummings is a well-known travel writer and editor whose award-winning background includes being the editor of the Calgary Herald Travel section for five years, travel editor with Sears Travel and tripeze.com for three years, an editor/writer with Travel Alberta for two years and most recently as a freelance editor, writer and consultant for the past three years. She has taught journalism at Mount Royal University and had regular radio spots on CBC for six years covering the travel industry. In addition, she is an experienced and enthusiastic traveller.

The magazine is coming off a big year - having earned National and Western Magazine Awards - and is proud to welcome Debra Cummings to the up! team.
