24 Hours on US$24 in Maui
We challenged a panel of tight-fisted (but high-living) islanders to create a day’s worth of fun for (almost free).
Early Morning
Cost: Free
In Wailea, on the south coast of Maui, go for an invigorating run on the stunning Wailea Beach Path and take a quick dip in the ocean.
Breakfast
Cost: $6
Still damp from the sea, grab a cup of coffee and a muffin at the Wailea Beach Marriott’s beachside coffee stand (3700 Wailea Alanui, Maui).
Morning
Cost: Free
Drive upcountry to Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm and tour the fragrant garden. If you want to know more about the beguiling flower, splurge on the $12 guided walking tour (1100 Waipoli Rd., Kula; 808-878-3004; aklmaui.com).
Lunch
Cost: $7.75
Bite into the succulent all-natural beef or elk burger grilled at the Ulupalakua Ranch store, just a 15-minute drive from the lavender farm (Hwy. 37, Kula; 808-878-2561; ulupalakuaranch.com).
Afternoon
Cost: Free
Join a free tour and tasting at Tedeschi Winery at Ulupalakua Ranch, Hawaii’s most popular winery. Don’t miss the mind-blowing pineapple wine (Hwy. 37, Kula; 877-878-6058; mauiwine.com).
Dinner
Cost: $10
Grab a yummy dinner in style at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Entrées start at $10 and are catered by rotating local restaurants (1 Cameron Way, Kahului; 808-242-2787; mauiarts.org).
Evening
Cost: Free
Stay at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center for the free galleries. Also, try catching a concert (tickets start at $10) frequently held there.

Start your morning early and have breakfast in Paia at Anthony's Coffee Co.(2 poached eggs on toast with coffee)Order your picnic lunch (large turkey wrap and drink) all fr $15 Drive the road to Hana, stop along the way to take pictures of the spectacular scenery. Have half your lunch at Waianapanapa State Park black lava beach and caves. Continue to Oheo Gulch the 7 pools at Haleakala National Park. If you park just before the gates it is only $65 to walk in. If you have time continue on to the bamboo forest. On your drive back stop at Hana Farms Market and a loaf of banana nut bread for $7. The road to Hana is the most breathtaking scenery: paradise.

Maui - do everything or nothing, the day is yours to decide. The Saturday morning Swap Meet at the college brings just a whole lot of fun early in the day. Best deal is the super soft tshirts from 808, light, cool and amazing designs.
Can hardly wait to return in April, hopefully see everyone there.
