3 best airports to be stuck in
Airport angst no more
No one likes flight delays or long layovers, but if you have to get stuck in an airport, these three are among the best:
Often on many “best airport” lists, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is rich with art and decor that reflect a sense of place. Glass walls show off the ocean and mountain vistas, plus you’ll find a Northwest Coast First Nations art collection and the YVR Aquarium with more than 800 varieties of local marine life. Additionally, there’s free, airport-wide Wi-Fi, five spas, shoe and luggage repair, a dry cleaner, pharmacy and medical clinic. You can also buy a day pass to the fitness centre at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel, near the U.S. departures area, or nab a nap in one of its guest rooms.
A long layover will give you ample time to shop, dine and explore DFW’s multimillion-dollar Public Art Program, showcasing more than 30 local, national and international artists. There’s also the Sculpture Garden located just outside the Terminal D parking garage on the arrivals level. For added convenience and “sleep-over” options, two hotels—Hyatt Regency DFW and the Grand Hyatt DFW—are located onsite and each offers fitness facilities.
Public art exhibits, an SFO Museum with numerous displays and even a yoga room allowing travellers to relax, stretch or meditate between flights are a few of the amenities offered at San Francisco International Airport. Travelling with children? Museum galleries also include an interactive program for kids. Of course, there’s free Wi-Fi, numerous restaurants plus spas in Terminal 2, 3 and the International Boarding Area.
