August Restaurant

Hand-held meals are the ultimate travel food: you can stay mobile, eat with locals and keep your other hand on your iPhone, daypack or toddler. So roll up your sleeves and dig into a slice of wood oven pizza at August Restaurant in New York City, because...
Your trip is too short to wait for a table!
In a city where Ray’s is ubiquitous and Tom’s is venerated, there is a quiet oasis in the heart of Greenwich Village that fires up single-serving pizzas (US$13) made with heart. Complete with a serene courtyard, the intimate, star-rated August Restaurant offers a bit of restorative comfort with thin-crusted versions topped with such savoury fare as house-cured bacon, caramelized onions and melted Gruyere or potatoes and lardo, the Italian-style cured, silken fat. Everything is made to order, so expect to linger for a good half-hour and choose something from the good wine and beer list.
