Cadet Hotel

A review of Cadet Hotel, a quaint boutique hotel in Miami's Art Deco District

Consistently compared to hotels twice the price, the Cadet Hotel is famous for three things: near-obsessive cleanliness, intimacy and personalization, with 35 rooms tucked into a corner of South Beach’s Art Deco District.

Located just steps from the beach, it’s walking distance to Ocean Drive’s clubland, but far enough away to block the noise.

Room Features

When guests do make it back to the hotel, they are greeted by personalized welcome notes, ice-filled buckets and bowls of cherries and chocolate waiting in the cleaned-twice-a-day rooms. Hardwood floors and Egyptian cotton linens welcome tired bodies after long days on the beach.

Hotel Amenities

Check the outdoor day beds for a perfect post-hangover crash pad, or get some of the hair of the dog that bit you at the wood-panelled lobby bar. Look for the portrait of Clark Gable on the wall—he headquartered here during the Second World War while training (who else?) army cadets.

The one thing that might put a crimp in your plans is trying to park your car: on-street parking can be scarce, so call the hotel ahead of time before bringing the Winnebago.

The Best Deal

Three standard rooms, 205, 201 and 105, share a gorgeous garden view with higher-priced Junior Suites.

Room rates start at $185.
