Crystal Cove Beach Resort Review

A review of Crystal Cove Beach Resort, a family-friendly compound of cabins and RV sites in Tofino, British Columbia

With 34 modern yet rustic log cabins and 72 RV sites, Crystal Cove Beach Resort has for years offered Tofino visitors respite from the area’s high-end resorts and their premiums—especially in the winter and spring.

In this compound tucked away on the southern end of MacKenzie Beach, just five minutes by car from Tofino, family-friendly is a mantra. Cars crawl slowly as kids of all ages ride bikes, explore the playground (complete with a climbing fort, tether ball and sandbox) and haul wood with their parents to their campsites or one of the pet-friendly log cabins that ooze West Coast Canadiana. Fireplaces or wood-burning stoves, private barbecues, hot tubs and the cool, wet ambiance of encroaching hemlock and cedar keep the outside close.

A full-sized kitchen and TV with DVD player and free wi-fi lets guests wait out the nastiest downpour. The recent addition of daily compost pickup adds to the feeling of home. Not that guests stay indoor much, what with one of the warmest, most sheltered beaches in the area a short stroll away.

With rates starting from $110.
