The Deane House

Profile of the Deane House, a historic property that's now a restaurant and dinner theatre

A big red house by the Bow River, the Deane House is Calgary’s most famous haunted abode. Built by Captain Richard Burton Deane, the superintendent of Fort Calgary, for his wife Martha in 1906, it became a boarding house that saw plenty of action: a husband apparently killed his wife and himself there. An apparition has been seen on the stairs. And a shadowy figure has been seen standing in the attic window – even when the home is empty. It’s now a restaurant and dinner theatre operated as part of the Fort Calgary Preservation Society.

Admission is $75 for show, meal, gratuity and entertainment; $5 to $27 for lunch/brunch
