Eva Longoria's Beso Restaurant

After conquering Hollywood's dining scene, actress Eva Longoria Parker has moved on to Las Vegas with her latest restaurant Beso
Eva Longoria Parker gets what she wants, even when she doesn’t know she wants it. Take the Desperate Housewives star’s foray into the Las Vegas dining scene, for example. Less than a year after realizing her long-time dream of opening up her own restaurant with the debut of Beso (Spanish for “kiss”) in Los Angeles, the model-turned-actress and avid cook jumped at the chance to open a second location in Las Vegas.
“The city has so many great restaurants and chefs, so I knew I wanted to extend Beso [there],” she says. “I just thought it would be much later in my life.”
But the fact that Beso numero dos was invited to open in the opulent 67-acre, US$8.5-billion CityCenter city-within-a-city development, surrounded by sophisticated neighbours, expedited the expansion.
Beso Las Vegas opened its doors in December, and while it’s a sister property of a Hollywood counterpart, it’s no twin. Just as with Beso Hollywood, Longoria Parker’s culinary colleague, renowned chef Todd English, is at the helm.
The sleek, sinful décor—complete with luxe chandeliers and a rich brown-and-gold colour scheme—travelled from L.A. But in Sin City, diners can head to Beso for lunch as well as dinner to savour the Latin steakhouse menu, which includes chili-rubbed skirt steak and paella, as well as Longoria Parker’s own tortilla soup and guacamole, both cherished Mexican family recipes from her youth in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“In my culture, food is the reason we come together, from dinner everyday at 6, to making tamales at Christmas with my aunts, mom and sisters,” she says. “I think cooking is a very personal thing to share with people. I do it every week in my house with my friends and my family, so I wanted to be able to do that on a much wider scale.”
The piece de resistance is Eve, the 8,000-sq.-ft. nightclub that opened on New Year’s Eve above the restaurant. A massive 360-degree video screen encompasses the dance floor and lavish VIP booths soar towards the 50-foot-tall arched ceiling.
“It’s stunning. Gigantic. Enormous. Artistic.” Longoria Parker gushes about her new digs. “CityCenter definitely indulges in excellence and luxury.”
