Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club

Your golfing dollar is a hotly contested prize, destined only for the establishments most willing to earn the respect it deserves. Charlottetown’s Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club fits the bill perfectly

Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club stands as the best of P.E.I.’s plentiful value bunch, in part because it’s home to the Canadian Golf Academy, and also for its proximity to the selection of motel rooms and international airport in Charlottetown.

“You can fall twice and get here,” says Fox Meadow general manager Harry Simmonds of the proximity. Designed by Rob Heaslip, the course is a roomy 18 that’s forgiving off the tee while still proving a robust test. The 539-yard par-5 3rd, for instance, climbs steadily to a tiny, elevated green that you’ll need a middle iron to hit, while the short but dastardly par-3 7th boasts a green guarded by water on three sides. Savour the long, well-shaped par-5 closer, 544 yards guarded by large bunkers, stands of forest and a smallish green.

Simmonds says the course has stay-and-play deals with some 50 different hotels and motels in Charlottetown, with bargains to fit every budget.
