Hacienda de la Costa

A soothing jungle retreat just south of Sayulita

Located on a winding jungle road just two miles south of Sayulita is the lush retreat of Hacienda de la Costa. Nestled amongst the tropical flora of Mexico, this intimate property features five comfortably designed suites, complete with shared kitchen access, saltwater pool and picturesque views of swaying palms and the Pacific Ocean. With authentic details at every turn, you can’t help but appreciate the thoughtfully arranged, tranquil features of the grounds, from intricate Mexican tiles to an immaculately landscaped tropical garden.

Proprietors Terri and Steve Arronge (a former championship stockcar driver and long-time Puerto Vallarta barkeep who makes a zinger of a margarita) are eager to accommodate your every need. After spending your days idling on the beach, Terri’s weekly dinner menus will continue to soothe your soul, featuring dishes that combine fresh, local ingredients, served al fresco in a cozy patio setting.

The breakfast hour at the Hacienda offers travellers a great opportunity to make friends and swap suggestions for the days ahead. And there are plenty of local attractions to keep you busy throughout your stay, including a secluded beach within a five minute walk of the retreat (boogie boards and umbrellas provided), the restaurants and surf culture of Sayulita and a number of fantastic day-trip options (like the San Sebastian tequila distillery).

Rooms start at US$140 per night.

This looks like an awesome spot, far enough away from the hustle and bustle to finally relax for real! No phone, no TV, no customers to tend to! Ahhh, paradise!
