About Jeremy

Age: 20

Sport: Men’s Single Figure Skating

Home Turf: Vancouver, B.C.

When not carrying the dreams of a nation, what do you do?

“I’m enrolled at Simon Fraser University, studying a minor in kinesiology—my major is still undecided. I also have a part-time job at Armani Exchange in Burnaby Metrotown mall.”

If you weren’t an Olympian, what would you be?

“I’d definitely be doing something artistic such as dance. I’ve always loved dance and body movement.”

How long have you been skating?

“Since I was nine. Just over 10 years.”

Who’s your sports hero?

“Last year, I read Lance Armstrong’s autobiography, It’s Not About the Bike, and it really inspired me how he was able to come back after a life-threatening illness and perform even better.”

Jeremy Ten's Picks

Local Hangout

"If I want to get away from it all, I’ll go hang out at the park around the Trout Lake Community Centre. It’s really beautiful and peaceful.”

Best Deal

“A Greek restaurant on Davie Street called Stepho’s Souvlaki Greek Taverna. My friend and I always order the same thing to share: an appetizer of calamari, a cocktail, tzatziki, bread and a roast lamb entrée, and it comes to around $30 for both of us.”

Best View

“At the Simon Fraser University campus in Burnaby, there are trails running up the mountain. You can take the trails up to Horizons, a restaurant with a beautiful view of Vancouver.”

Best Drinks

“The Cactus Club Café, across from the Burrard train station. It’s a beautiful, contemporary lounge—very modern-looking. And they make great Bellinis.”
