Living the luxe life with hotel memberships

Hotel living is not a new phenomenon. Somerset Maugham, Pierre Trudeau, Robert De Niro, even Keanu Reeves have done it.

We’re not suggesting you do the same, but what about a hotel membership? Several Canadian properties are offering a new twist on living the luxe life—one of daily turndown service, Frette linens, zero utility bills, free Wi-Fi, your own pool and endless other perks.

Fairmont (Alberta)

119 Fairmont

Aimed at Alberta skiers, the Rocky Mountain Season Pass ironically doesn’t include skiing but 25 nights at any, or all, of Fairmont’s iconic properties in Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. The $3,375 season pass price tag for a single-bed room is a terrific deal for a family of gonzo skiers. Run the numbers and the room rate breaks down to $135 per night. Valid until May 12.

SoHo Metroplitan (Toronto, ON)

120 SoHo Metropolitan

This 92-room tony boutique hotel in the belly of Toronto’s entertainment district launched an “urban club” for guests who want a swanky weekend getaway. For an introductory rate of $3,499 a year, SoHo Met Club members can enjoy unlimited one- or two-night weekend stays, discounts on food and beverages, on-site storage, their own key to a 420-sq.-ft. suite and full use of hotel amenities. “You can pay that off in seven weekends,” says Tamara Stefek, corporate manager of public relations. “It’s ideal for a couple living outside the GTA, the sort who want to take in a ballet, a play or the opera and not have the hassle of searching for a hotel room.”
