The Mix

Casual meets stylish at The Mix, a funky Whistler lounge known for its extensive cocktail list and laid-back attitude

It's a fact—the Whistler dining scene is slowly being infiltrated by the omnipresent chain restaurant, a fact lamented by many long-time visitors and locals alike. While some franchises come and go, a few others thrive through great service, savoury fare and good location.

One of these is The Mix, a funky lounge located on the main thoroughfare of Whistler's pedestrian-only village. If you're looking for a place to soak up the energy of Whistler while enjoying good food and drink, The Mix by Ric's is it.

Inside the Mix

Inside The Mix

While only partially considered a chain (owned and operated by B.C./Alberta franchise Ric's Grill), The Mix takes some of its parent restaurant's qualities—amazing steak and seafood, for example—and adds a bit of flair to the equation.

On any given night, the subtly lit cushy red interior emits upbeat lounge tunes onto the street outside, inviting passersby to come inside or to take advantage of the heated outdoor patio.

Eat, Stay, Relax

Dining at The MixOnce inside, diners find a welcome alternative to Whistler's get-'em-in-and-get-'em-out restaurant scene. The Mix's casual but stylish vibe is equal parts relaxing and reinvigorating. The staff is friendly and attentive and the clientele is brimming with optimistic energy.

Local artists' work spices up the decor while a glowing bar highlights The Mix's piece de resistance: the extensive cocktail and martini list. Those in search of a custom martini or a boutique wine in Whistler Village usually end up sidled at the end of this luminescent stretch.

Highlights on the menu include the filet mignon steak, the tempura prawns and the chocolate lava cake for dessert. For a strong caffeine and vodka buzz try the Mix Me Up, a concoction with enough espresso to keep the conversation flowing late into the night. The Mix is open until 1:30 a.m., after all.
