Organ Pipe Cactus National Park

Be awestruck by the Sonoran desert’s abundant cacti

The state of Arizona as a whole is a first-rate place to explore the Sonoran Desert. However, Organ Pipe Cactus National Park is a unique stop amongst Sonoran sights, thanks to its namesake cactus species. This is the only place in the U.S. where organ pipe cacti grow wild.

You’ll also see cactus variations other than the organ pipe within the park’s 330,000 acres, including the classic saguaro, prickly pear, teddybear cholla and chainfruit cholla, among others. Such an expansive park could be explored for several days (to that end, the $8 admission fee per vehicle is good for a week), but there are a myriad of options for a day-trip. Whatever your timeframe, stamina and interests, there is a driving tour or hiking trail that will allow you to fully appreciate Organ Pipe’s majestic beauty, rugged landscape and abundant wildlife.
