A new golf course on the scene, Otter Creek Golf Club boasts family-friendly features and picturesque views
Voted Ontario’s best new course of 2009 by Fairways magazine, Otter Creek Golf Club is a 7,100-yard, roller-coaster Dick Kirkpatrick layout that winds through three separate creek valleys. With a new clubhouse opening this spring, head pro Darren Allan promises plenty of food-and-beverage promotions to mark the occasion.
Green Fees
$70 during weekdays, $77 for weekends and holidays, with a power cart included. Juniors play for half price.
Where to Stay
Allan recommends the Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover, a back-to-basics bargain that’s just a block from the popular public beach and harbourfront for just $110 a night. (519-583-1391)
Lessons
Otter Creek is made for kids, from the expansive practice range and short-game area to the proximity of the first four holes, which are perfectly suited for a quick on-site lesson.
Off Course
In golf, sand is generally a bad thing. In family vacations, not so much. You’re only an hour’s drive from a world-class beach and campsite in Port Burwell, perched on the edge of Lake Erie. (519-874-4691)
