There's a small red notice in the Titan Missile Museum’s gift shop: “No Weapons Allowed in this Facility.” A tad ironic, considering this site houses a nuclear warhead that could have destroyed the Soviet Union in about 30 minutes. This is atomic tourism—an up-close look at the Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile that was ready to be deployed during the Cold War. The $9.50 admission includes a fascinating one-hour guided tour of the still-intact site. If the 103-foot tall missile in its launch deck isn’t daunting, breathe a sigh of relief that this massive weapon never had to be deployed.
DON’T MISS: The goose bump-inducing simulated missile launch from the underground control center.
