Burgoo Bistro: Perfect comfort food

I recently took a very enjoyable WestJet flight to Vancouver (the person doing the announcements on the plane was very entertaining - using a different accent for every announcement). Friends suggested a place called Burgoo for brunch. I am very glad that they did.

It seems like a very popular spot. We had to wait a bit before being seated. I am told that is the norm.

The room was rustic and comfortable and the staff were friendly. The menu was inviting. Full of what I was looking for at the time, comfort food (Irish Stew, Mac and Cheese, Soups, Fondues, etc.).  I had a hard time narrowing down the options. We were there for brunch and therefore I went with a selection from their Brunch section of the menu: Eggs Burgoo for $12.00.

Eggs, bacon, potato, cheese, etc. all baked together in a white single serving baking dish. It's probably not something you would choose if you are watching your weight but I suggest you suspend the diet temporarily and enjoy! Besides, it comes with a salad! I spent much of the meal thinking about how I could recreate it at home as I was enjoying it very much.

According to the website, there are 3 locations:  Main Street and West 10th in Vancouver and Lonsdale in North Van.  I recommend you try it out if you are near one. Enjoy!
