Flight Delays at Christmas

Christmas 2009 was a horrible time to be flying, all thanks to one fellow and his underwear. The extra security measures initiated by the United States and Homeland Security created long line-ups and lots of headaches and hassles for travellers, flight attendants, pilots, and more.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just domestic American flights that were affected; the extra security had a domino effect on all air travel through the Christmas season.

Returning from Mexico, we had to wait about an hour for our connecting flight from Calgary to Edmonton. It was coming up to midnight, and people were cranky and tired. As the flight left Calgary, the flight attendant gave the usual spiel, finishing with, "If you have any questions or concerns, please keep them to yourselves. It has been a very long day!" She was joking, of course.

The entire cabin burst out laughing at her words. She certainly made the best of an unpleasant situation. Thanks, WestJet!
