Green Tea Cake at Shibuya

Viva Las Vegas!

It's not the slots or card games. Go to Shibuya at the MGM Grand for a sure bet: the Green Tea Cake, $10 each! The menu's description of the cake will leave you with low expectations.

But I was pleased to see the "macaroon" accompaniment was actually an outstanding meringue, with a passionfruit sauce hiding under a white chocolate cover! Wow! Yuzu jelly (what is that?!) garnished the cake. Double wow!

The cupcake trend is yummy but will never be the answer to "Where can I find a great dessert?!" And different takes on a chocolate lava cake don't impress me anymore.

It's time for something new, surprising, and better than expected. My husband and I were soon engaged in a battle of the forks to finish the Green Tea Cake. We can't wait to go back there again!
