There are days that come along, and fill me with thankfulness, awe, and giddy energy while experiencing the rush of life. It is such a blessing to be alive!

Surrounded by vast mountains, lakes, and forests of what truly is BEAUTIFUL British Columbia, my friends and I enjoyed a weekend together that has left me on a high, looking forward to the next time I can get back to B.C. It is definitely worth the drive/trek off the main highways to find hidden gems along lakes and forestry roads. We spent a brilliant weekend camping at Sandy Shores Resort, on the Canadian side of Lake Koocanoosa. It is a nearly a 45 minute drive off of Highway 3, and the sandy beach is worth the extra kilometers. We swam, played, and wakeboarded in perfect 30+ degree weather all weekend. Even when we watched rain clouds creep along the nearest mountain range, we felt isolated in this utopian bubble of blue skies & a lake of glass. After getting our tan on, the night sky brought the most intense & brilliant stargazing... we watched a 2-hour lightning storm light up the eastern sky along the Rocky Mountains. Times like these, listening to my brother sing & play acoustic guitar for us, are what leave me feeling perfect harmony within & with the vibrant life & lives surrounding us.

On our way home we decided to stop off at Silver Springs, to hit a great cliff-jumping location. Turning off of Highway 3 at Elko, B.C., we followed Bate Ave. to Lodgepole River Road until we quickly came across the trailhead to walk up to the mountain lake of Silver Springs. My roommate and I decided it a must to prove to all the guys around that we too could brave the high cliff, and videotaped ourselves free falling into the clear green lake below. Squeezing my eyes shut as tightly as possible, I swear I felt my lids roll up onto themselves as I hit the water with a giant splash. What a rush! If only the thunder and lightning hadn’t rolled in, I would’ve jumped in again and again. I literally felt on top of the world as the 5 of us walked back down the mountain along a creek bed, still wearing our sandals & bikinis, rain pouring down, while the loudest thunder I’ve ever listened to roared past us through the valley.

Ah life, live the one you’ve imagined and you’ll continue to be pleasantly surprised.
