WestJet Helps Make a Special Family Moment

This past weekend contained some highs and lows!

The low was the death of a family member which entailed a funeral in Medicine Hat, AB for our Grandma. She was such an amazing lady. In hindsight, it was probably best as Grandpa had passed away not so long before. The two of them had been together for over 65 years. Such a rare thing in today's world.

The high was, of course, being able to get together with so much family, uncles, aunts, cousins. Grandma was a busy lady, having had nine kids in all. Out of those nine kids, my parents were the only ones who have been divorced.

My parents have been fighting forever, it seems, and up until recently, they haven't really got along. My mom's new husband passed away just over a year ago from asbestos disease. So, it's been a tough year to say the least with this all happening and the fact that Mom found out she has a rare kidney disease and Dad found out he has prostate cancer.

So, this is where WestJet comes in. This weekend was, to put it simply, kind of nice despite the funeral. It was the first time that both Mom, Dad and me and my three sisters along with their kids were able to get together and really enjoy each other's company.

We spent some time playing board games just like the old days, which felt kind of special. My sisters and her kids, one who lives in victoria and the other who lives in oakville, were able to fly out on short notice using WestJet.

It one of those things that just came together and became a special moment. It was a time where I think our family may have gotten over the hump and really enjoyed being around each other. We are actually now planning a trip in August to somewhere in BC (somewhere with a lake) and either renting a cabin or houseboat.

I've never looked forward to hanging out with the family as its always been more fighting than anything. This time, I'm actually already looking foward to it and spending some time relexing. I'm sure the family will once again be flying WestJet and meeting up in Kelowna! :)

I have flown on 3 WestJet flights between Victoria, BC and Calgary Alberta in the past 5 years.

The first 2 flights was on a roundtrip, as I attended a neices wedding in Southern Alberta. My experience with WestJet for the first time was wonderful. From check-in to the cabin crew, I felt at ease and the flight attendants were keeping us relaxed during the flights.

The 3rd flight with WestJet, 2 years later, was more comfortable. It was a one way trip from Victoria to Calgary. I was so excited about moving to Alberta regardless the cold wintery at this time of year. Once again from Check-in to the flight, I got 1st class treatment (everyone did as well). This flight was half full, and I felt comfortable and there was no turbulant moments.

Big hugs to WestJet for making everyone comfortable from Check-in to destinations.
